Choosing reusable cloth diapers is a big decision that can lead to a rewarding journey for you and your baby. But where do you start? Here are the most commonly asked questions on how to start your cloth diaper journey.

Nicki's Diapers is a family business founded by Nicki and later joined by her husband Jesse. As a husband and wife team, they worked together to ensure the highest quality products while following responsible environmental and social business practices. The company is now located in Akron, Ohio.

Cloth Diaper Covers

Cloth diaper covers are used over flat diapersprefold diapers, and fitted diapers. Diaper covers wrap around the baby and secure with hook and loop or snaps for easy use. Each diaper cover can be used several times before washing with a simple wipe down between uses.

Diaper Covers: Beautiful and Functional

Diaper covers play an important role in the cloth diapering process. While all in one or all in two diapers have a liner built in, parents who choose to use flat, prefold, or fitted cloth diapers need an outer waterproof layer to keep any diaper moisture contained to complete their system. Cloth diaper covers do just that, while looking great and being great for the environment! This is why reusable diapers are loved by families.

Diaper Covers Are an Affordable and Flexible Option

We offer different sizes of baby diaper covers, meaning you can use them from newborn all the way until they start potty training. And with the options available, you can build the perfect diaper system for your needs. You can use any of Nicki’s Diapers diaper covers with different cloth diapers like flat diapers, prefolds, and fitted cloth diapers

You can combine any of the above options with cloth diaper inserts to meet the needs of your little one. Once you have all of the absorbent layers you need you are good to then wrap it all securely in a diaper cover. Diaper covers wrap around the baby. You can secure them with a hook and loop closures, snap closures, or even pull up style so you don’t have to deal with pins.

Also, there’s the environmentally friendly factor. In a world where climate change is a hot topic, you can reduce waste and help save our planet with waterproof diaper covers.

Styles of Baby Diaper Covers

Nicki's Diapers offers two distinct types of waterproof diaper covers

Wrap Diaper Covers

The first is a wrap diaper cover. It has velcro or snaps closure on the front, and you do not have to use pins or a Snappi. If you use a prefold diaper cover, fold them into thirds, then lay them inside the covers and fasten them.

Our single-layer PUL wraps are reusable between washes to lengthen your time between laundry loads. You can also wipe them clean and hang them to dry near your change table. This way, you’re ready for the next diaper change.

Pull-On Diaper Covers

The second baby diaper cover style is pull-on covers. If you go with this option, you’ll probably want to first fasten your diaper of choice around your baby before pulling up the diaper cover. It works best with fitted diapers or prefolds with diaper fasteners

Cloth Diaper Cover FAQs:

What Is A Cloth Diaper Cover & What Is It Used For?

A diaper cover is a cover that goes over some styles of cloth diapers to keep clothing and other items dry even when the cloth diapers are wet. Cloth diaper covers are usually waterproof, but some wool diaper covers benefit from being very absorbent.

Do You Have To Wash Diaper Covers Every Time They're Used?

Baby diaper covers do not need as much washing as cloth diapers themselves. A good rule of thumb is to wash diaper covers after 3 or 4 diaper changes, or when they become soiled. But compared to all in one diapers, which need to be washed at every diaper change, it’s a big savings.

Are Cloth Diaper Covers More Environmentally Friendly Than Disposable Diapers?

Yes! When paired with a good absorbency layer, cloth diapers can be washed and reused over and over, saving literally thousands of disposable diapers from going into landfills where they take hundreds or thousands of years to decompose. All this reusing is also good for your wallet!

Can I Use Inserts With Diaper Covers?

Yes, inserts work well with diaper covers but ensure you choose the one that meets your child’s needs. When wet, change the insert, and replace it with a clean one. You can use any insert as long as it is absorbable, but the top options are flats, prefolds, and fitted, but can also be stacked with standard cloth diaper inserts for extra absorbency.
