12 reviews

Description

Nicki's Diapers Merino lite Wool Covers are a great diapering solution for your little one! Wool is antimicrobial, and only needs to be washed and lanolized every 3-4 weeks unless soiled.

Nicki's Interlock Merino Wool Covers are silky and stretchy. While the design has an increased ability to prevent leaks, the material is still breathable for baby. These diapers are perfect for daytime use since they fit under clothing.

Fabric

With 1 layers of interlock wool, these covers are thin enough for daytime use while still preventing leaks. Wool covers are made from 95% merino wool and 5% spandex. This material is stretchy and breathable, giving you a great fit overprefolds, flats, inserts, orfitted diapers.

Take comfort in knowing these diapers are free of the chemicals that are found in disposable diapers.

Preparing for Use

It’s always recommended to wash any new cloth diaper products before use, to remove any dust from manufacturing and shipping.

With wool, the care and prep is a bit different than your traditional polyester reusable diaper cover. Fill a bowl or your sink with lukewarm water and
wool wash to the package instructions. Allow the wool to soak for 30 minutes before removing and laying out to dry.

*If you are washing more than one article of clothing at a time ensure that they are like colors

Once your wool has been cleaned you will need to lanolize them. The lanolizing process is what allows your wool to be waterproof.

What you will need:
- 1 cup of very hot water
- 1 tsp of lanolin
- 1-2 emulsifying cubes
- 3-4 cups of tepid water
- Large bowl, clean sink, or gallon sized leak-proof bag

Directions:
1) Add your lanolin and emulsifying cubes to the cup of very hot water and allow to melt completely
2) Turn your wool inside out and gently place in your vessel of choice
3) Mix your lanolin, emulsifying cubes, and very hot water well.
4) Temper the lanolin mixture with the tepid water until it’s fully incorporated
4) Add the mixture to your wool and allow to soak for 30 minutes to an hour
5) Remove the wool and lay flat to dry

How to Use

To Use:

1) Secure absorbent cloth diaper on baby (sold separately)
2) Pull wool cover overtop for waterproof protection
3) Reuse if not soiled for up to two weeks until the lanolin wears off
4) Repeat the wash and lanolizing process every two weeks

4) Allow the wool to soak for 30 minutes

5) Lay flat to dry

This is my favorite daytime wool cover. It’s thin and doesn’t add bulk but doesn’t leak. We use them with clotheez workhorse snap fitteds. For a full rundown on how I use them, visit heykellymarie.com/clothdiapering/

    Not just for diapers!

I purchased this cover several years ago for my daughter. I loved how soft, trim and breathable it was during the day. She often wore this over sweet iris flats - my favorite super soft and comfy combo! It worked great as a cover that could double as shorts. Now, at 3.5 and completely out of diapers, she wears this cover as underwear! She calls them her "soft ones" and reaches for them first. One minor complaint is that I wish the seams were a bit flatter/less bulky. Oh, and I wish they came in more colors! For reference, she's 37.5 inches tall and 30lbs, and the medium fits her just right as underwear.

    Really like this

So, we decided we wanted to do wool instead of pul/tpu covers and I snagged this up for a really great deal on Black Friday. I only got one because I wasn't sure on the fit as there are no measurements, only weight guides on here. I'm kicking myself for not snagging two. This is a really great daytime cover so far. Fits my short 28lb 18mo and my tall 38lb 3.5yo. We haven't had an issue with leaking or the rise being too short but we don't use bulky fitteds. We use GMD prefolds and GMD fitteds. Sometimes we add a GMD 6 layer doubler inside the prefold or fitted but it's still super trim but absorbent. This has lasted through a nap, haven't tried using it overnight or anything but I'm thinking about it. We love the color, more colors would be nice but isn't necessary. This color goes with everything and looks super nice. I washed this cover in eucalan and let it soak for a good hour, rolled in a towel then laid flat to dry before first use. I'm thinking of paying full price for another if there isn't another sale anytime soon. Great lite wool cover. Stretchy. soft.

    Our new favourite for summer

I bought two of these to try after our baby started getting heat rash with PUL covers. They're nice and light, but perform well (I initially needed to lanolise twice). They look very smart as shorts. They can feell a little damp as you feel moisture evaporate out but we change as soon as our baby's nappy is wet so haven't had anything soak through. Gett two so you can air interchangeably without it looking like you've had to change baby's outfit. Good value.

    short in back, otherwise great

We purchased a size large. A little short in the back, barely covers my son's kissaluvs v2.0 fitted. Fits perfectly everywhere else. My 2-yr old son has large legs (only blueberry covers have large enough leg openings for him with the kisses fitted) and this wool cover fits him comfortably. Very soft, not scratchy or itchy at all. If it was taller in the back I would give it 5 stars. I have to pull the cover up in back as much as I can for it to just cover the fitted, hopefully it will stretch over time? The wool cover is also very thin, perfect to reduce bulkiness and help his clothes fit better; I was concerned this wouldn't work as a cover with pants over it because bulkiness is an issue for us, but this is perfect.
