It’s always recommended to wash any new cloth diaper products before use, to remove any dust from manufacturing and shipping.
With Natural Fibers, we recommend washing them 3-5 times with detergent, drying in between to maximize absorbency. Natural fibers will become more absorbent over time.
If you prefer to use after one wash, note that you will need to change sooner or add additional absorbency. You can simply throw your new products in the wash with your normal laundry or diaper laundry. We recommend you do not use fabric softener or bleach on any cloth diaper products.
Best Bottom Inserts are very quick and easy to use. Simply snap both ends into your favorite Best Bottom diaper and you’re good to go!
Washing Your Inserts:
1) Remove solids: Knock solids into toilet
2) Remove any snapped in or stuffed absorbency materials before washing
3) Running a rinse cycle on cold
4) Run a full cycle wash on warm/hot with additive-free detergent
5) For best results, run one more rinse cycle on cold
6) Line dry or tumble dry or on low heat
Care For Your Inserts:
Fabric softeners and rash creams can ruin the effectiveness of the absorbency. We recommend you do not use them. If you need to use a rash cream, we recommend the use of a liner along with cloth diaper-friendly products.
Dirty diapers and inserts should not go unwashed longer than 2-3 days for risk of staining.
Fabric
Made from 5 layers of super absorbent Hemp/Certified Organic Cotton and topped with a soft layer of fleece.
Hemp inserts are the trimmest and most absorbent insert! They will hold the most moisture, but they do absorb more slowly than microfiber or bamboo. They are great as layering inserts, as they will absorb anything the top insert can't hold.
Best Bottom Hemp Inserts offer our Super Absorbency, which is usually sufficient absorbency for even the most hydrated baby!

So far great product. Very absorbent.
Happy to hear it Charity!
Back in September I was very excited to order the cloth diapers for my daughter for her first child. I spent $500 on diapers and inserts to make sure she was covered. The company informed me that they had no small inserts at that time so I decided I could wait until they got more in. Here we are, the middle of December, her baby is due any minute and still no small inserts. This is very disappointing! I wish I would’ve returned everything that I bought when I was told they had no small inserts because now she will have a newborn with no inserts for her diapers! Not acceptable!
These large inserts are soft and perfect for a medium wetter during the day. I will get the extra large next time for more coverage. Good quality and price!
I love these! They absorb so well and we haven’t experienced leaks. I’ll definitely be keeping them in the rotation.
I’ve used these with my newborn for a few weeks, so that’s all I can speak to so far. These inserts are absorbent enough for 3 hours or so (in which time she can soak a flat somehow) without leaking. They’re less bulky than the flats, too. I love that they snap right into covers for me to leave for my mom and anyone who doesn’t want to use a more complicated diaper. I’d definitely recommend using the dryer for these; like all hemp inserts, they’re crunchy when line dried.
Glad to hear that you have found these inserts to be more absorbant than flats, Rachel!
